Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device in commercial businesses and industry ever since 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different forms, from a tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with various kinds designed to suit particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is best for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are normally used within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is used to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They are available in two types: bias or radial. Depending on the use, they are available with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on surfaces that are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires offer along with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Large rubber tires, that could either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are suitable for moving and loading bulk objects into processing equipment or onto trucks. Big flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at auto recyclers, lumberyards and construction locations.
