The type of vehicle normally found within factories, warehouses and different work locations where moving heavy materials from one location to another is required is called a forklift. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and raises the load. The "cat" is the area which is protected where the forklift operator sits.
Forklifts can carry loads which weigh between one to five tons. Various kinds could be used to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.
The tires of a forklift should be inspected and maintained frequently. The kinds of tires on various forklifts differ based on factors like weight of the loads, ground surfaces and frequency of use. Every operator of a forklift must have access to tire press, replacement tires and a forklift jack.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You must frequently check the tires. Watch for indications of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it should be replaced.
When you buy tires, be sure you buy the right kind - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you could easily change the tires.
You could use the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and secure it properly. If you are changing more than one tire and you have only one jack, lower the forklift, and after that reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could provide on-site tire repair. If the tire is too big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the damaged tire would have to be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
