Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are amongst the most frequently utilized types of crane in the construction industry. They are used to build everything from buildings and skyscrapers to roadways and freeway overpasses.
There is a large variety of crane models, sizes and styles available on the market. There are a lot of different types in order to serve a variety of different purposes in the industry. Choosing the right type of crane is very vital for making certain that the material could be moved efficiently and safely to the location it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whereas the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are really helpful for building sites where a crane is required in numerous different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being easily driven from one place to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction locations on the road as they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly lessens transport expenses at the end of the day.
The truck crane however is not stable enough to handle all the major loads that a hydraulic crane could handle. Hence, to be able to fix this problem, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has big tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are very similar to bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
