In 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case within Racine. He began building threshing equipment. The business later gained global recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine business. The rapidly began to make road building equipment like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of medium-sized to light-sized construction equipment.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing some of the globe's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
