Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed a lot of clients and therefore, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, because the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into making articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Because of the economic recession in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy machines provided by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work environments. Where the machine needs to be driven significant distances, like for example in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These machines are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
