Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is usually used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
